MySQL grows due to a demand for an accessible DB
As more and more small business and individuals use web for their own needs etc, there has been a great need for a relatively inexpensive, highly available relational database for the average person.

The days of folks wanting simple static web sites etc is over. But if someone wants a dynamic site whats the big hold up...The database.

MYSQL and PostreSQL have grown partially due to this demand and thank god for it. The dynamic web isnt just for big money medium and large sized companies that can afford to buy an overly expensive Enterprise database.

MY SQL will continue to grow due to this demand and thankfuly for it and things like PHP the dynamic richness of the "personal" and small business sense of the web will continue to flourish. Thank you MYSQL. Give the fat boys a big bite in the arse.
