hmm
The Mac's GUI was a direct influence of his tour at Xerox
PARC (and no he didn't steal it, Xerox was paid Apple
stock).

NeXT was based on another influenced of PARC; mainly
Smalltalk, which is known as the grandparent of all object-
oriented languages; NeXT used a smalltalk-ish version of C
called Objective-C, (which to this day has more OO abilities
then C++ ever had).

Jobs is really good at seeing on the potentials of
technology to the masses; mass-marketing the solutions is
another issue.

Things are turning around for them though. It seems like
Apple is becoming unofficial R&D testbed of many other
companies.
