MS has said that Office will become the front end to enterprise computing for average users.

Translation: you'll need to have a complete MS-everything enterprise to use it.

Conveniently, no US court has held that MS has monopoly power in office productivity software so this kind of leverage will be effecively legal for at least ten years. Microsoft is betting that by the time the Supreme Court hears the last appeal there bodies will be long buried and the question moot.
