Office paradox
Insterad of just piling on more features that will not get used, how about a different strategy?

IM? Don't use it, another place to catch unauthorized executables flying around. Phones work better anyway.

Presence managment? What happens when I leave the system on and go to a meeting or lunch or leave the PC on overnight or while away on vacation. Hmmm, not very useful...is it?

VOIP? More things to break. I would prefer a VOIP client that does not integrate into the OS and word processor or spreadsheet, thank you very much.

Office, the standard product, does not need rework all that much. Why? Becuase most use a few pieces quite well and have no need to upgrade from 97 or 2000 or Xp 0r 2003 versions to ANY newer version. In these cases, the most likely cause of an upgrade would be a new OS and hardware. Wot? That won't happen until 2006 or 2007 you say with Longhorn, well, then, let's use the products that work and they can stuff the new stuff into a bag we can open in a few years when maybe, just maybe, we will be willing to spend money. Buying the same porduct reskinned as an update is lunacy and we won't do it.
