Poor Anty
"IBM control of Linux...
... is acknowledged even by ZDNet columnists and commentators.."

And they are just as completely WRONG. ZDNet columnists? You mean you are referencing tabloid writers to bolster your "claim"?

"..and they're not exactly opposed to open source."

So that means, by implication, that they are MOSTLY OPPOSED to open source. So let's reword your sentence to reflect things properly: ZDNet columnists, who have a recurring habit of spinning and falsifying the news, and who are mostly opposed to open source, claim that IBM will usurp and destroy linux. Wow! NOW you have me convinced!

"Thus Microsoft?s flirtation with Red Hat is really aimed at sending a message to IBM."

Nah, Microsoft is realizing that it won't be able to stop linux itself, so now it will attack the most successful linux companies.

"The message: you can?t have it both ways."

Bwahahaha!!! And it's Microsoft of all companies trying to teach this lesson? A company that has run roughshod over the industry for years is trying to tell another company that it needs to obey the rules?!

"Open source gives IBM a measure of control in the operating systems arena with neither cost nor risk."

No, not control, but leverage; exactly what all the other linux companies have been utilizing.

"Effective control doesn't have to be complete.
In fact, IBM's legal shield against Linux problems would fade if they were too obviously in charge. And open source supporters don't want to think of themselves as backing only an IBM freebie.
So "a measure" of control is all they really need."

More of your double talking mumbo jumbo to muddy clarity and confuse the issue..
