Confirmation! Thanks Anton
ZDNet gives a lot of press to the "next" MS Office, and we find its capabilities much heralded here in posts. This contrasts with complete indifference in the office, at industry gatherings, and the press reviews - "pass on this one," for example. A premise had been building in my mind is that it is not a product fault, but an industry indicator; our industry might actually have "finished" one - users are satisfied.

Now you advise that, "According to a past story here on ZDNet, DRM-enabled software is one of the most requested new Office features by businesses." Okay, I checked the lists - CIO concerns for 2004, hot new technologies, and came up zippo. Went to Google to find out what it is. If this is number one, what's number two - two weeks in Philadelphia? (Hey, no offense intended, it's just that the old joke seemed so appropriate).

Just what fraction of business users even know what the term means, let alone are clamoring for it? And on that basis, how many users are asking for anything at all?

This is not intended to detract or diminish any company, product, user or poster, and I hope it is not taken in that light. It simply means that, just possibly, there are other hills for us to take.
