The more you sell at a lower price for the same product, the less you make.

If MS can force Linux companies' revenue per employee to dive, then MS has won the battle.

Market share is important only to a certain point. What's killing MS right now is growth. Look at MSFT, its price hasn't gone anywhere in the past 3 yrs wasn't because the company can't make money, in fact they're making money hand over fist. It's the prospect of growth from this point forward that's killing them.
