retraining to do what? read the labels on the menues? or moving the mouse?

it is MUCH more cost effective to laet someone get familiar with open-source apps and support them on site than buying MS `support' that simply let's you wait on the phone for hours to just receive the canned answers read off the trainee's manual.

Most importantly, young students are astoute enough to figure most of the details on their own. It is good training anyway.

OR, people can keep waiting for longhorn that offers the `latest' GUI technology (zero educational value) and the 'new' file search engine (zero educational value) in 3-4 yeards, all the while they are paying hard cash for (not) upgrading their s/w and (not) effectively patching it.

It is so hard to choose.
