Java needs Microsoft involvement
Desktop Java is virtually trashed by industry. The main reason is due to crappy shoddy looking implementation of GUI packages. Commercial developers well aware this problem. I hardly see companies use Java to develop their desktop business applications.

Sun's lawsuit against MS was a big mistakes. GUI Java applications in web also difficult to deploy due to the lack of support of Microsoft. I have to say that the life for Java might be numbered. When current Microsoft license expires, Java might have further limited use.

Then why spend time to develop another craps? I think they better spend on a Good-Look GUI project that can compete against MFC packages.
