I didn't mean to label you specifically as a Microsoft hater, I was speaking in general terms.

But, from the article:

"Instead, individual product groups within Microsoft will each develop storage systems based on a common design specification."

That sounds to me like coding to a specification. And again I have to ask, how is that different from different vendors coding similar Java applications to a common specification? They wouldn't have a common code base, either, but no-one assumes that the products wouldn't work together.

Ff you want to assert that Microsoft is lying about having a common specification, that's another story. But leaping to conclusions and making assumptions is one characteristic of a Microsoft hater. Maybe that's why I replied the way I did.
