This guy must be a newbie in Linux
Everybody knows that in Linux "the newest and the greatest" gcc has NEVER been good with compatibility. Since the dawn of Linux (and Unix for that matter), developers often release their code together with a suggested gcc version number, plus suggested window manager, graphic libraries, math routines and so on. "Blacklisting" a particular version number was neither novel nor news-worthy.
