One would think that there would be a way ...
to create kernel specific wrappers that would 1) run on the latest kernel as a module and 2) allow all kernel modules for a specific kernel to run under that wrapper. But at this point there just isn't enough pressure for legacy support at the driver level. It was really hard to get legacy application support under Linux but the distributors finally relented on that. This is another tough sell. It flies in the face of conventional thinking that everything HAS TO be made obsolete at some point and people just have to accept that. Well, I'm with you Donnie. I don't accept it from MS, why should I accept it from the Linux developers?
