Re: XML is new???
No. It's been around for ages. It's MS's version that's new.

Someone posted an excellent layman's explanation of Microsoft's XML on ZDNet several weeks ago. It went something like this: French and English both contain the alpha characters A - Z, but without an interpreter a person who speaks only English will not be able to understand the person who speaks only French. There will be the occasional familiar word, but not enough to reliably hold a conversation.

Unless Microsoft publishes an 'interpreter' that's free and open to anyone, their XML is still proprietary. It doesn't work and play well with others.

I haven't seen any such interpreter, but I do continue to hope! I'd like to see Microsoft work and play well with others. It would make my job one heck of a lot easier.
