Microsoft plans to give some pirates a break

No Bloody Idea
"I tell you - you anti-microsoft guys have no idea. A normal everyday computer user will never use linux or any other OS!!!!
Linux does nothing to promote its use in the home as game developers are the NUMBER ONE reason that windows thrives in the home, the close second is the EASE OF USE of the SYSTEM."
It shows you've never used Linux before and tend to confuse the thin line of USING with ADMINISTERING... If any user had administrative rights in Linux or any other Unix-like system, they would have as many problem as Windows security-wise.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the virii and SpyWare problems are 10% responsibility of the writer, 90% responsibility of the USER. No matter how you want to look at it or hide the sund behind your finger, that's the way it is and will keep on being until people is educated (as a massive mob of dumb persons) in this regard, and even then there will be problems.
Anyway, the issue is about useability... I use both systems (and Mac and other Unices), and I must admit that the more you are a Windows power user, the more difficulties you have to adopt ANYTHING else, it's like Windows cuts off your neuron connections and you forget of the process to do simple add operations like 2+2 (I used to be like that too). Suddenly the more you use standard programs and stuff with other systems, you realize how M$ alienates users, not the other way around. And recently I've had a boom on requests to ditch Windows in favor of Linux on a veriety of Desktop systems for REGULAR Joe-sixpack users... I've not done so, simply becuae I'm afraid they'll de-dumb and won't need my help anymore, LOL. Seriously, though, I've successfully converted complete computer illiterate people to Linux teaching them the basics little by little as they go, just as they first learned Windows, when they came from their DOS/Win31 environments to Win9x. It's only a matter of education, as with anything else IMO.
Enough M$ Bashing... I've only have a few things against them, and I can't deny they rule the Desktop market. Game developers don't look anywhere else since theirs is per se a risky market (very much like the motion pictures industry) as to waste resources on other platforms ports, especially when there are doubts about the game's adoption. Ture it would not be difficult to do, but as anything else their in for the money, and they go where they *think* they'll get it. - Posted by: thetargos Posted on: 05/04/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
