I have no hard evidence to back what I'm about to say, but they always say, if you want to find out who is behind something, follow the money. Who has the most to lose if Linux is successful? It's not SCO. SCO could go out of business if a UNIX clone steals all of its business, but the absolute dollars are not that great. By suing IBM over Linux (an incredibly expensive venture by itself - where did they get the money for the legal fees?), SCO has permanently alienated itself from the entire Open Source movement, and most of its potential customers.
So, if it's not SCO that has the most to lose when Linux succeeds, then who could it be? And who might be quietly, secretly behind SCO's seemingly suicidal effort to reduce Linux use through Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD)? Would Microsoft have an incentive to fund such an effort?
It kinda makes you wonder, doesn't it? - Posted by: vwalker@... Posted on: 12/25/03 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
