If MS won't cooperate

try some "free as in freedom" solutions.

I think the problem is that Joe Average Windows users are so used to either having to pay for functionality or risk adware problems by downloading "free as in beer" (but not open source) software that they don't even think (or even know) to look to free source to answer their problems, even if it is a Windows problem. To a crossover Linux user like myself doing that becomes second nature. I'm not trying to start a war by saying that either, but Windows user and Linux users do have a different mindset. Windows users either expect MS to fix their problems or if they refuse they expect to have to buy it, whereas Linux users will look outside their chosen distribution for free software they might find useful (for instance RPMs for one distro generally work for another RPM-based distro).

But my point is that usually a problem like that is a problem that's been thought of before, and whenever there is a common problem the free source community usually has thought of it as well and come up with an answer.
