I don't mind complaining, per se.
It's when it DOESN'T include suggestions for making things better that it tips over into whining. And WHINING DOES bug me, and whiners are fair game as individuals or as a group.

If, instead of saying "the US school system is abysmal," MikeZD had said something like "the US school system is behind other nations in that it doesn't ... blah, blah ... and could be improved by ... blah, blah," I would have a lot more respect for him and would be more understanding of his position.

But he just came out and dissed the U.S. on two points right after telling us how well the H-1B program had worked for him. Huh? That's like thanking the bride for the invite to her wedding and then mentioning that you thought the size of your piece of the cake was pretty stingy.
