Agree with many of your points..

I'm in favor of restrictions but see why businesses like MS are not. They have to obtain and compete for resources in the same way as their competitors.

I agree that China and India have focussed on their own internal infrastructure and see that the future of their country is high tech. The result is what is happening. Our government leaders just think about what needs to be done to get re-elected. That is, pander to the special interest groups, take advantage of peoples fears (war, terror, God,..) and appeal to american focus on instant gratification. Unfortuneately, our future welfare is below the proverbial 'ZBB line'.
