Be very wary of uninformed opinions (re-post)...

I recently attended a TenFold Paradigm class in an attempt to determine if the claims were true. I too downloaded the demo and while I was more enthusiastic than "jorwell", I was still not convinced the product was worth $5K per developer seat and $1K per end user.

The thing that was not real clear in the article is that the Tsunami "free" demo represents only a portion of the total product known as MyTenFold/Enterprise TenFold. There is so much more to behold.

One of the things that I appealed to me the most, as a developer, was how the product walks you through the full life cycle of software development. So as far as "jorwell's" claims, keep in mind that this person has not seen all the "stuff". The product includes a regression tester (complete with screen capture for developing tests).

I walked away from the week long training very enthused. The only thing that is preventing us from moving forward is whether or not the company will be around for the long haul (as was eluded to in the article's concern over the financials).

To me the weakest point related to the product is there is not WYSIWIG when building forms (i.e., transactions). I believe the same to be true of the reporting environment

It would be a shame if anyone based their decision on "jorwell's" opinion on some 80's green screen development environment when application development has evolved so dramatically since this time (NOTE to jorwell, please don't take offense).

I personally would like for TenFold to quickly create some sort flash demo of the further features/capabilities of the entire suite in order to get their story out there. Or provide ta 90-day license of their MyTenFold for evaluation purposes. Since the MyTenFold is a single user MySQL platform, it would be nice if they offered this for $99 to gain more developer support. If they did I believe their financial woes would disappear.

When I mentioned these things to TenFold?s personnel, they were concerned that an onslaught of new developers would not be adequately supported. I must say, this is very considerate of them. It was nice to get personal attention to my questions and quick turn-a-round during our initial evaluation.
