Your post doesn't make sense. You speak on and on about a custom built application, for Windows, that powers your business and then speak about how Linux doesn't have any applications that can run the enterprise.

If you were trying to specifically disprove the statement that "most" users don't do more than email, browsing and word processing you should re-read the statement. By pointing out a niche company with a custom built application you failed to address that statement accurately.

Your statement that Linux falls flat when dealing with custom applications is almost laughable. Strike that...it is laughable. Custom apps on any platform are only as good as the writer. The fact that you have a custom app running on Windows does not eliminate the availability, effectiveness or quality of apps written specifically for Mac OS X, IBM AS400, Linux, BSD, OS/2, etc..

Noone is saying that you have to convert to Linux. If your business is running on Windows and you have custom applications that depend on it then this discussion doesn't even need to happen.

Bottom line is--don't knock Linux for not having a custom app designed for another platform. Why? Because it's a ******custom****** app designed for ******another platform******. It's not even relative to the conversation.
