Installation ease,
I partly agree. I recently installed RED HAT 9.0 on an old system with a Cyrix 686MX-PR200 CPU and 64 Mb RAM. It was: Use the floppy to boot the CD and follow instructions. Less than ten minutes after completion, I was on the Internet. The system also has Open Office installed and everything seems to work well, but very slowly.

However, when this system had OS/2 Warp 4.0 installed on only 32 Mb it was quick and had almost no wait times. The multitasking was smooth and pleasant. Now the system seems very slow. Slow to boot; slow to load apps; and slow to switch. Once an app is loaded, though, it seems to at least be faster than I can type.

So far, I haven't discovered how to make the phone dialer for the modem connection function without going "Root" and using the Internet installation wizard.

Of course some problems are bound to occur when it is my first installation and I have no reference information readily available in printed form.

I was also under the impression that Linux was less hardware demanding than Windows. As a non user of Windows, I can't speak to that, but it surely is more demanding than OS/2.

I built this to have a system that I could give to a nearby convalescent home without any licensing restrictions. Unfortunately, it is just too slow.
