Unlikely to be much use for anything serious
I do believe that much can be done to improve the productivity and reliability of application programs in business.

I do agree that business application programs should not have to be written in Java, which is lets face it, a systems programming language.

However I am wholly convinced that methods based on XML are a recipe for disaster.

XML lacks a coherent theoretical background and is merely a rehash of the hierarchical data management methods tried and found unworkable in the seventies and eighties. The development of XML is inevitably an ever spiralling mound of complexity as people attempt to patch over its fundamental shortcomings. The message should be "Give up now, it cannot be fixed!".

BEA's main cash cow is still Tuxedo, now very long in the tooth; it shouldn't be necessary to write a program every time you want to access data from two separate SQL databases but Tuxedo makes you do this. Their "adapters" are distinctly lacking in adaptability.

The message one gets from this is that BEA haven't learnt very much from experience. Personally I think they are on their way out as company.
