AOL takes passage to India

The next logical step: Let me see if I get this right: management is sending tech jobs to places where the cost of labor is much less than in their home country. Their reasoning: think of all the money we'll save.

This philosophy will be great for a few quarters, just long enough for those same managers to get their bonuses. But let's ignore the long term effect of technology and talent drain.

New proposal. Why don't we mount a campaign to get the Board of Directors for these same companies to ship mid to executive level management jobs to these same countries? Think of it: do you know how much money these companies can save if they use cheaper executive labor in these same foreign countries? No longer will they have to pay multi-millions of dollars to US executives when they can get far cheaper executives in India that will be happy to work for, say, $100K a year. Think of all the money that they will save!

This is the next logical step: workers, managers and executive all are cheap foreign labor, with only the Board of Directors remaining in the US. Can you imagine telling Carly, Larry and Scott, "Sorry but you've been downsized. Your job just went to a cheaper exec in India."
