Just a drop in the bucket
Wow, tech workers in India must feel like tech workers in the U.S. did, back during the dot com boom. Unfortunately, for US workers, this offshoring trend is only just getting started. Right now, its mainly constrained to just tech workers but soon no white-collar worker will be spared. If you work in a cubicle and don't interact with customers, some guy in India can do your job.

Friends and colleagues tell me that the Indian labour pool is not limitless and things will stabilize. I tell them, just wait till China fully opens their flood gates and lets loose a tidal wave of cheap labour.

Alas, for some years to come the US middle class will be forced into a standard of living comparable to that of third world countries. I already see it happening. Friends who work in high tech are accepting engineering positions for less than 30K a year. Those that can get an interview anyhow.

Well, I suppose all good things must come to an end, except for the lucky few corporate executives and high level government officials.
