9/10 Better than Garmin 255W

cesusibo - 05/22/09  (Edited: 05/22/09)

I had been using an older Nuvi 250 with good results, so I purchased a new Nuvi 255W. However, I promptly returned it after one day because the screen, the navigation logic and the menus were disappointing compared to the older Nuvi. In my opinion, the Magellan 1440 screen is sharper, menus are better organized, commands are faster and more intuitive, requiring fewer 'clicks' on the screen. The maps also have more useful information than the Nuvi. The navigation logic makes more accurate choices and has two extra options: "Mostly freeways" and "Least use of freeways". When entering an address, the logic predicts the word you are typing after the first few letters, saving time in most cases. It even has a quick-spell feature to help data entry. When you are driving, selected points of interest appear on the road, some with their company logos. The voice and text-to-speech is more natural and easier to understand. One hell of a good deal at around $200!! Goodby Garmin!
