7/10 Great Monitor Until It Died
mitchv79 - 03/19/09
The Samsung SyncMaster 940MW was an excellent monitor for me, and would have got a 10 from me, but after only a couple years it died on me and will not turn on any more. I started having problems with it maybe 6 months ago...I would have to push the power button many times for the green power light to stay on and power the monitor up. After it got to be a big hassle, I just left the monitor on all the time. The other day I unplugged it to clean out my computer desk, and when I put it all back and hooked it up it would not turn on any more. I think that 2 years is an unacceptable lifetime for something that cost so much money. I mean come on...I have a TV in my living room that is over a DECADE old, no longer has power or volume buttons (from kids), and has taken a considerable amount of abuse, and it still works fine. My other LCD monitor from Westinghouse is older than my Samsung, and it still works great. I've read a lot of comments online about people having the same problems as me with this monitor, and some people are experiencing them as quickly a year later...
