About scanning, the 6180 can only use twain scanning on the usb connection. The ONLY way to scan with this machine over a network is using WIA. WIA is less secure and requires that a security compromise be implemented in order to use it. (File and Printer sharing). The scanning procedure requires the user to pick a PC from the scanner and to send the resulting file to a share on that PC. This is clunky for many users. For better security MS recommends the WPD IPA which is more secure and newer. While I love xerox printers the scan copy and fax always seems made as an after thought by the lowest bidder.
