2/10 Needs a real driver !

Gavroche1973 - 01/09/09  (Edited: 01/09/09)

The driver provided by Targus (on january 9th 2009) is a shame. It only allows to configure the two lateral buttons. The location of these buttons is, btw, far to be optimal... they aren't both in front of my thumb, so i have to move my hand forward to click one of these. The speed settings in the mouse panel (system preferences) are not working (using the mouse with a MacBook Air running Leopard 10.5.6) and the mouse cursor is speeding way too fast... To gain control of the speed, you have to use a (commercial... and so, not free) third party software named USB Overdrive... and select a higher DPI value (300 or 400) than the default one (that seems to be 160 dpi). But, when you use USB Overdrive, the "fifth" button (the one on the left side which is right under my thumb) can't be assigned a usefull function... :-/ The optical scroll is a good idea (compared with the apple mighty mouse) ... but, as the mouse cursor, it's way too fast and can not be configured in anyway... so scrolling is not as smooth as with the mighty mouse... The only positive points are : right and left buttons are not upside/down as on the mighty mouse, and the mouse itsefl is more ergonomic than the mighty mouse (exception made of the lateral buttons)... Conclusion : i left this mouse in my bag and took back my mighty mouse !
