8/10 Ubuntu Hardy (8.04), XP Pro, Vista Home...

My laptop crashed and I needed a new PC. I happened to choose this desktop primarily because of its compact design and home theater capabilities. No desktops at Best Buy came equipped with any Linux OS, so I had to purchase a machine with Vista on it. After I installed Ubuntu I found as much trouble with the graphics card as I had with my former laptop; it took me a month to figure it out (off and on). Still working on it currently. Now after that, here are the simple problems and observations: 1. Vista. Looks good but my laptop from two years ago ran XP pro faster. DVD play limits all other software running. 2. XP Pro: No support for the ethernet card. Had to download driver in linux onto a fat16 flashdrive. Runs excellent. 3. Ubuntu: nvidia driver. (Incorrectly configured) Limited to 800x600 resolution with new kernel 2.6.23-common I think. Lightning fast. Haven't tested out WLAN. 4. Had to change BIOS settings to install off CDs, to Native IDE. All in all no signifigant problems relating to hardware, but its pretty new. Erik
