Much of the rest of the marketing piece is the things that you have to do to make sure you're engaging that customer. Marketers haven't been particularly smart about listening to the customer - there is a much stronger tendency to presume for them than to actually hear them and act on what they say. I spend a lot of time on both sales and marketing talking about how the company participates in something the customer is not only doing, but expecting them to do.
