I don't see any advantage in waiting for the official release. Even if you need to go back to the official release because something gets hosed, as long as you handle the JF updates correctly you always fall back to a backup.

There are some nice updates to the software. I especially like the fact that you do not have to scroll all the way to the bottom of an e-mail to delete it in the Gmail app. I also like the on screen keyboard but also like the fact that I do *not* have to use it. I also like the auto-rotation that iPhone users have been enjoying since the beginning.

But by far the biggest thing I'm liking about the Cupcake update is the fact that my stereo Bluetooth headset finally works. This makes it better than using my iPod for music by a mile. I also love the way it handles the Bluetooth. Other phones I've had are quite random in whether or not it decides to use the Bluetooth even if it is obviously paired and connected, but with the G1 if it's connected it gets used unless otherwise told, which is how I like it (if I didn't want to use it, it would be turned off).
