Agreed. Mostly.
On the one hand, I agree with you that Palm should focus on one successful device right now. They really need the Pre launch to be smooth as silk if they're going to have a shot at recovery.

On the other hand, I have to think that they don't want to put all their eggs in Sprint's shrinking basket. Just as Apple is allegedly eying Verizon's 86M customers, Palm probably wants the chance to court AT&T's 78M customers too. So if WebOS is ready to roll, putting out a scaled-down model for the bigger market might allow them to play both sides of the fence with Sprint giving them free advertising and AT&T giving them sheer numbers.

The Pre is definitely highest on my radar right now. Other phones are a distant second.
