I'll try it, but the service is overpriced
Considering you can get a good GPS for less than $100 these days and not have to pay service fees, I don't see the payoff. Yes, the maps will get updated and such, but how much do the roads change? If you just buy another GPS when you need a new map and you do this less than once a year (realistically once every three years is plenty) you come out ahead. And considering phones get replaced every 18 months on average, the four year plan is out of the question.
