Hi Matt, well the device is promoted as carbon neutral but it's also gone through a rigorous certification process by Carbonfund.org to earn the CarbonFree Certified label. The process includes a product life-cycle assessment (LCA).

Also, currently the only way for something to be carbon neutral is by offsetting the remaining footprint after efforts at reducing a product's footprint (such as in materials and energy use) are done. The offsetting supports verified carbon reduction projects. Find out more at http://www.carbonfund.org
