Cable cards
Cable Labs = evil. Just let me buy the damn box from a company like ATI, rather than having to spend a crap load of money on a new computer that is certified by CableLabs and runs Vista, neither of which I need or want.

Hulu or similar services and inexpensive TV players are the future and the cable clowns learned nothing from the music industry.

My cable company will rent me a cable card for $5/month, which is reasonable, I guess, but I can't use it without purchasing expensive devices to use it the way I want.

If I want to record stuff, then I'd love to record it to a headless device like my home server and serve it up to the devices in my home, or pack it up on the road, like what you do with mp3's.
