Here's one point
#1 Blu-ray is basically an evolutionary step up from DVD. DVD from VHS was a revolutionary jump in quality, sound, and durability. Blu-ray? Just more lines, maybe better sound. Nothing major there.

#2 HDTV: Because of manufacturers screwing around, some shows/movies are 720, others are 1040. Also it requires a special cable, special connections, everything isn't standard so no one knows what really is going on. People are getting shafted, and they're getting tired of it, and the hype.

The early 2000s was bigger and bigger TVs. Throw away last year's 40" and get a 70" this year!, then the economy collapsed, and showed people what's more important.

NOW they want to bring out 3-d TV? Ok, how many of us can remember the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. Every decade they bring out a bunch of 3d movies, and after a couple or 3 years, people aren't watching them anymore. I see this happening now. All sorts of 3-d movies, movie studios thinking this is the golden age of movies (again) and probably in 2 - 3 years it'll be the same. Back to 2-d movies. No glasses, no throwing things at the audience, etc.

You want us to buy 3-d tvs? Fine. Don't make them 2x higher than a normal HDTV, blu-ray? Bring the prices down. You are making billions a year. While Joe 6 pack is barely making rent. Remember WE'RE the one who counts. Not your stockholders. If it's not for us, you wouldn't have a business.

As for me. I'll wait till true plen-air holography TV is here. Maybe that's the next thing, and that'll be worth purchasing.

At least I don't need those stupid glasses.
