NewEgg.com recently had an LG 42LGX on sale for $1000 (w/ free shipping). And so I bought one.
I've been waiting for sets to stabilize in regards to contrast ratios & refresh rates & viewing angles & such - I don't think we'll see any major image improvement technologies over the next few years. And flat-panels are about as thin as can be without the expensive jump to OLED.
