Bad, Bad, Bad
In my first year in engineering at university (21 years ago), we did a project on "current carrier". It is exactly what these devices do. They use a bandwidth that is not that of the electricity that is being distributed. The problem is that it creates dirty power, the same thing that electronics shops are selling high priced filters to stop. Not all electronic devices can deal with this and the result is poor performance from these devices. I am not fully against these devices, but most homes are not equiped with the filters at each power outlet that would be needed to clean the power.
