You are wrong, Gartner is correct...
My rep has confirmed this for me as well. Open Source is impossible to license and maintain. Thus, the only true solution to IT needs and efficiencies is adopting a Microsoft strategy throughout the entire organization. My rep painted a doomsday scenario here for our legal team. He spoke about "large financial institutions" that adopted open source software and soon required federal bailouts to survive. He pointed to "large automotive companies" that tried Linux and soon died. Gartner is doing the responsible thing here, it is the open source movement that does not understand what they are doing.
