Brian, I blogged and provided details on my blog in 2005 "So, even without factoring in costs of your own staff or incremental hardware you are looking at $7.50 at the low end and $ 21 (or more) at the high end for every $ 1 dollar of (ERP) software license costs."

Of course, you have compare apples to apples. Most trasactional SaaS (to make comparable to financials, order, payroll etc in ERP) is not down to $ 100 a year yet. More like 600, some even more 1000. So once you multiply that by 8 to 10 years and add in cost of the impl project, the difference dwindles quite a bit. Still not as bad as on-premise ERP, though
