HP SaaS / cloud claims are usually a stretch
I'd imagine HP has acquired a true SaaS technology somewhere along the way, but they are notorious for trying to pass off legacy client / server software via an ASP model as SaaS. It is not easy to comprehend the architecture of HP's 5000+ software SKUs. However, HP Service Manager is re-branded, decades-old Peregrine technology that is often marketed as SaaS.

Service-now.com founder and CEO, Fred Luddy, was the CTO of Peregrine and Remedy for 13 years before HP bought the dinosaur. Fred bailed on a technology that was dying after realizing there was no way to overcome the demons and shed the baggage of old client / server software.

He knew there had to be a better way so he built the first Net-native, enterprise-ready IT service management solution. Service-now.com is true SaaS, born on the Internet, consumed on the Internet and automatically managed via the Internet by the application experts.

Can HP provide any clarification on their claimed cloud, PaaS and SaaS offerings? Maybe their PPM stuff is real SaaS, but they are doing customers a disservice by trying to claim SaaS in other market segments.
