SaaS and EVM -- a powerful combination

This is an important and timely post. The core insight that you have championed is the importance of bringing financial and operational rigor to human capital driven businesses. Earned Value Management (EVM), coupled with flexible and easy to use software tools, is a great example of this. The most important innovation we have championed at OpenAir in using these tools is coupling the flexibility of a SaaS model with the power of these metrics. Real time visibility on quantitative metrics is key to determine project success during the execution phase rather than as just a post-mortem evaluation. SaaS tools further lower the cost of implementing these systems so that the SMB market has access to a set of tools at an affordable price. At OpenAir, we have long believed that it is the critical link between collaboration and financial discipline that will drive business process application success in the new world.
