AIR-based desktop clients like this are quickly replacing websites.

I think MS should have a web service (along with a web site) which showcase these kinds of applications: desktop Internet consuming applications. I think MS should then promote these applications like crazy via links on heavily trafficked web sites. At some point, MS could extend its promotion to TV, etc. I believe the above would be a great way to help marginalize the browser, and re-orient people's views towards desktop applications.
