Microsoft's geeks might miss Gates the most

Brilliance = Techie + Financial Managerial: I think one of the reasons Microsoft has been so succesful is that Bill Gates was adept (not necessarily the best) at both spectrums: the techie and the business side.

Witness General Motors under the "Smith" (bean counter) tenure: un-inspiring cars; and then under Stempel (product guy): better cars but didn't cut cost quickly enough...
