Ashton Bashton, But Let Me Know If Tom Petty Tweets
I would say it's too early to call. Twitter has a patina of cool right now
and so show biz faces may want to use it for some sort of supposed
hip fusion and brand synergy.

You may recall a couple of weeks ago that I suggested celeb-u-tweet
may have been a manifestation of pr firms looking for new billable
hours. I suppose the other classic model may be the "fan club." Where
the celeb and his or her circle of tweet followers fall on the community
/ granfalloon spectrum is, I think, an open question.

My guess, because information is power, the celeb tweets will
continue, but be inconsequential, and disappear if the publicity return
doesn't approximate the costs.

Every celeb will have a private account as well with which their agents,
partners, and assistants will collaborate in culling the useful from the
rumors. In a town that lives on whispers, twitter means the next bit of
buzz may come instantaneously from Valencia, or Beverly Hills, or
New York. No need to catch up on DHD at the end of the day.
