Or, instead of pitching a fit
you could ask if anyone has figured out a way to clean the
trackball.

Here's one: Dampen a lint-free cloth with alcohol. Place it on
the table. WIth your blackberry turned off, press the trackball
firmly on the damp pad and move it rapidly back and forth,
sideways and in circles for about thirty seconds. Your
trackball should now be stick free.
