Mine? not with Dell, but not so great either
Not a Dell, but an HP Pavilion xf328 notebook.

The problems were: 1) the CD-R provided burned nothing but coasters; 2) the data/fax modem provided on the motherboard died after every retrain, requiring complete rebooting if it was to start acting like a modem at all again; 3) the pre-installed Encyclopaedia Britannica app refused to run.

A call (while still under waranty) to HP support led, ultimately, to the advice to press F10 and select the Restore option. "And what will that do?" I asked. "It will restore all the malfunctioning hardware and software to its original condition," came the answer, "your machine will be as good as new." "And the other software I've installed, and my files?" "Oh, after you've restored the machine, I'll walk you through backing up and restoring everything else."

Really! While I was (insincerely) thanking the rep for being willing to go to such trouble on my behalf, I pressed the hook switch to be disconnected from that well-meaning idiot (let him think the connection just flaked out).

I had expected a lot better from HP support, based on the exemplary printer support I experienced with them back in the 20th century. But we're in a new century, now, alas, and nothing is the same as it was.
