RE: CLEAR Airport Verified Identity Pass calls it Quits
I'd honestly have to say that I'm not surprised. I was a charter member of Clear, and was a bit surprised when they doubled the annual fee. Clearly, their pricing people had skipped their classes on price elasticity. The business model was always doomed. As they became more popular their raison d'etre would suffer ? not what most strategists look for. I live overseas; travel extensively internationally; and was attracted to the idea to avoid delays through US airports. One of the worst delays I've had was when I was randomly singled out for detailed interrogation by presumably TSA. So definitely, the positive identity that the Clear Card provided was of no use to TSA. Sometime I wonder if TSA (or maybe the larger US gov't) wants to solve the harassment problem in the first place.
