It's a normal thing
to have to restart a computer after an application install. It
allows the OS to hook into the apps hooks. My iPod touch
also had to be restarted before newly installed apps worked.
It has nothing to do with the iPhone. They are also not the
"equivalent" of a "blue screen of death," which is what other
OS's call a kernel panic.
