You are forgetting...
The very important part of the equation, the student-users, leaving school and college will become business-users someday and they will be familiar with one or other of the offerings and (as long as their experience was good), they will want to keep using these services when they get into business.

They might not all have the ability to make their employers switch to one or other offering, but a percentage will run their own businesses or will be in positions to influence buying decisions.

It is something many companies have known for a long time.

It has worked in the past for Microsoft and Apple have tried, but have lacked the big-business appeal make much of a dent in Microsoft's armour.
